Srinagar, Sep 20 (KNO): The Government of India is set to resume talks with Ladakh leaders and has scheduled the next meeting of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) constituted to discuss safeguards for the Union Territory on October 6.
According to a communique, a copy of which is with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the meeting is scheduled to take place in New Delhi.
The last meeting between Ladakh leaders, primarily from the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was held on May 27, 2025, in New Delhi.
The session, part of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) chaired by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, addressed ongoing demands for statehood, Sixth Schedule protections, a dedicated Public Service Commission, and increased Lok Sabha representation.
The meeting followed a four-month pause in formal talks and came after an initial proposal for May 20 was rescheduled—(KNO)
